Disgraceful: Not So Warm Welcome For MS Dhoni; Kashmiri Crowd Chants ‘Boom Boom Afridi’
In Baramulla Kashmir, the youngsters were seen not giving such a warm welcome to former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni as they kept chanting ‘Boom Boom Afridi’
Former Indian captain MS Dhoni, who is Honorary Lieutenant
Colonel, is currently serving the Indian Army with the 106 TA Batallion (Para),
Baramulla district of Kashmir. The legendary cricketer is on two months break
from cricket to serve the country and will be staying in Kashmir till 15
August, 2019. Ever since, Dhoni is back to serving his nation, his fans have
been keeping a tab on him for various updates. Following which, an old video of
the cricketer has now started trending on social media.
In the video, Kashmiri youth of Baramulla district can be seen chanting ‘Boom Boom Afridi’ as he was on his duty. But looks like, this is the same video when Indian Army had arranged a match for the cricketer. As soon as Dhoni had stepped onto the ground, the Kashmiri crowd was seen chanting ‘Boom Boom Afridi’. Yes, that’s right! Instead of catching a glimpse of the legendary cricketer, they were in a mood to protest. As soon as they saw Dhoni, they started screaming slogans of Pakistani cricketer, Shahid Afridi.

Dhoni, who is known to have a wide fan following across the globe, has been selfless when it comes to serving his nation. With Kashmir being on the edge after the government’s decision to abrogate Article 370 – which grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir – Dhoni witnessed a rather hostile reception during one of his visits to Baramulla.

The cricketer who had nailed his performance in the ICC
Cricket World Cup 2019, made himself unavailable from the West Indies series to
serve his regiment. We had earlier brought you the pictures of the former
captain in Kashmir, which were motivating and the sight of watching him in the
Indian Army uniform instead of a Cricket team uniform is commendable.
